President of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) Dr Warren Blake has squarely dismissed whispers that he will not seek re-election at this November's JAAA Annual General Meeting and believes he has done enough to secure a full term, when delegates gather to decide the future of the organisation.

Blake, a long-serving member of the JAAA executive and second vice-president under the administration of former president Howard Aris, was elevated to the top position in a convincing manner over first vice-president Grace Jackson, days after Aris died suddenly late last year.

Jackson, who was beaten 12-3 in the vote-off, is expected in some quarters to challenge Blake at the voting AGM, which is normally scheduled for the last Thursday of November. A challenge may also be mounted by business executive and track and field insider Ian Forbes, who narrowly missed out in 2004 to Aris, by a 82-78 margin, in one of the most closely contested JAAA elections.

Blake, an orthopaedic specialist by profession, made it clear that he will be looking to be returned as president later this year and while he pointed out that the fast approaching Olympic Games remains the focus of himself and his current executive, he is quietly working on putting together a slate of candidates for the election.

"I am going to be running again for president of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association," Blake said.

"I am at the moment looking at my own team but first thing first, we need to have a good Olympics, then we will be able to put our minds to the elections."
