Hamilton Gardens suffer their first defeat

Colours International won the match by 35 runs.

Hamilton Gardens crashed to their first defeat of the season as they were beaten by 35 runs by a resurgent Colours International at the Hamilton Gardens ground last Sunday.

Colours welcomed the services of Jamaica player Ramone Francis, who had a match-winning performance with 58 runs, and a decisive bowling haul of 6-23, which included the wicket of Hamilton's top batsman, Shandie Dennis, who hit 29 runs.

Colours batted first and made 158-7 off 32 overs with Jermaine Spencer supporting Francis' half-century with 41. Javon Davis took 2-21 for Hamilton. In reply, the home team were bowled out for 123 off 28.5 overs. Paul Bird assisted Francis' six-wicket haul with 2-17. Despite the loss, Hamilton Gardens shared the top spot in the preliminaries with Ken's Wildflower. Both teams are on 16 points from five games, while Colours and Portsmouth finished behind with 12 points from five games. Ken's wrapped up their fourth straight win as they crushed Washington CC by 121 runs.

Scores: Ken's 211-8 off 35 overs; Robert Johnson 74; Yash Amin 3-26. Washington 90 all out (24.4 overs); Darion Usher 26; Romane Johnson 4-12; Aaron Blackwood 3-26. At the Portsmouth field, homesters Portsmouth suffered a scare before they beat Greater Portmore by three wickets.

Score: Greater Portmore 122 off 32.3 overs; Granston Marco 64; Vayani Bailey 4-13. Portsmouth 123-7; Romaine Ramsey 32, Demario Higgins 20; Ronaldo Harris 2-31; Dellon Sutherland 2-36.

The top four will engage in a semi-final clash at the two venues in Portmore.
