Rasbert Turner, Portmore Star Writer Two men who stole gas from a filling plant in Naggo Head, Portmore, St Catherine, pleaded guilty when they appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Charged with simple larceny are Donavan Bartley and Alleandro Dunn of Naggo Head, St Catherine. When the men appeared before Resident Magistrate Simone Maddix they told the court they stole the gas. Their lawyer, Althea Grant, asked the court to do background checks on her clients before sentencing. The Crown acceded to the request and extended the accused men's bail until September 19. Allegations are that after observing that there were illegal activities taking place at an IGL filling plant at Naggo Head, the operators set up an undercover operation on July 11. Dunn, who worked at the plant, and Bartley, who is a gas dealer, were caught stealing the gas. They were held with a number of cylinders ranging from 11 to 45 kgs, valued at $98,000. |
