Increased vigilance in the examination of trans-shipment containers resulted in the seizure of 509lb (231kg) of marijuana on Monday at the Kingston Container Terminal. The drug which has a street value of $98 million was concealed in a 40ft refrigerated container of boneless beef. The container was loaded in Panama and destined to Barbados via Kingston. The contraband was found stacked in five large travelling bags on top of the beef. The bags were removed and examined and the marijuana handed over to the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Trans-national Crime and Narcotics Division for further investigation. No arrests were made in connection with this seizure. |
