Jamaicans to be deported from Belize |

|
Two Jamaicans who were found to be living illegally in Belize are to be deported. Twenty-seven-year-old Romando Michael Richards, and 31-year-old Rayon Anthony Spence, both students and electricians from Kingston, appeared in Magistrate's Court to answer to charges of disembarking a vessel without the authority of an immigration officer. pleaded guilty Both men pleaded guilty and were both fined BZ$1,000 (J$43,150) each plus BZ$5 (J$215.75) cost of court or six months in prison. A removal order was also issued for them to be deported back to Jamaica. According to a report in the Guardian, the two Jamaican nationals left Kingston on June 3 for the United States, but did not make it there and instead sought refuge in Belize. Police got a tip that they were living on Electric Avenue since June 7. They were detained
and handed over to immigration personnel. |
