A 52-year-old woman who claims that her ex-lover wants to leave her homeless because she has ended their sexual relationship was ordered to keep the peace in court on Friday.

The cross case involving the couple Bernice Oliver and 62-year-old Alton McDowell was a hot topic in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Oliver has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.

Meanwhile, McDowell has been charged with unlawful wounding.

Both their bails were extended and they are to return to court on August 27, under strict instructions that they are to keep the peace and stay away from each other or they will be taken back into custody.

In addition, Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser ordered Oliver and McDowell that they should stay within their bounds of the premises.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, the couple got into a fight which resulted in both parties sustaining injuries.

It is alleged that Oliver was slapped with a machete and chopped on her hand while McDowell was hit in his eye with a stone.

In court, it was revealed that the dispute started because Oliver has ended their sexual relationship.

"Your Honour, it's because me naah deh back wid him that is why he is telling me that I cannot stay at the house. I saw him wid a building your honour, but it is me turn it into a home," Oliver reasoned.

Meanwhile, McDowell who has denied the allegations told the court that he has had enough of Oliver's behaviour.

"Your Honour, I cannot manage this woman, she is a murderer. I have tried my best and I am a hardworking man. She fling di stone and hit me in my eye I can barely see out it," McDowell told the court.
