Love causes hurt and pain |

|
Dear Pastor, Love is overrated. It is a great deceiver and it causes more hurt and pain than hate. It is based on selfishness because one does not give love without receiving it first. Why do people search out others in their own social strata to fall in love with? Nobody wants to love or marry below one's class. Why should love be so respected and confined? Platonic love is the only form that is selfless, except the one we receive from our Heavenly Father. I am all for giving compassion, respect, empathy, charity and sacrifice, but I will not call it love. R.S. Dear R.S., Nothing is greater than love. Could it be that you have never experienced genuine love why you believe that it is better to hate than to love? This world would be a better place for every person if we would learn to love God and then love and serve one another regardless of race or colour. May I suggest that you read First Corinthians Chapter 13. It would give you a better understanding of love. Pastor |
