Some Linstead, St Catherine residents are blaming a Friday the 13th curse for the death of a former Jamaica National employee over the weekend. Matio Wyzart was killed on Friday evening after his car slammed into a tree as he drove along the Linstead bypass. Police have confirmed that speeding was the result of the crash that killed Wyzart, but some residents believe it was a Friday the 13th omen. "Look how the car crush and look how it crash way up pon di ackee tree," Michelle McDermott, a resident said while viewing the car. "A because of the bad luck Friday the 13." Many persons who viewed the mangled metal of the ill-fated Honda Civic motor car, echoed similar sentiments and expressed shock at the death and remains of the vehicle. Police said shortly after 6 p.m., Wyzart, who resided at Victoria district in Linstead, was driving along the bypass when he lost control of the vehicle, which careened off the road and hit the ackee tree. He died on the spot. The impact reduced the vehicle to a pile of mangled metal. |
