The race for president of the island's most powerful and influential football association - the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), has taken shape.

The voting congress set for Saturday, August 4, will see incumbent Rudolph Speid being challenged by Leon Mitchell for the top position.

The Speid team will comprise first vice-president Ricky Chin; second vice-presidents Jacqueline Cowan and Peter Higgins; general secretary Peter Higgins and Jacqueline Cowan; assistant general secretary Herman Cruickshank; treasurer Errol Howlett and assistant treasurer Elvis Jenkins.

Mitchell, an assistant general manager at Jamaica National Building Society, has formed a powerful team which includes Carvel Stewart as first vice-president; Carlton Dennis as second vice-president; former president Richard 'Roots' Nathan as general secretary; assistant general secretary Ansel Lee; Brian Rose as treasurer and Winston Isle as assistant treasurer.

A total of 39 affiliates, that is 35 clubs and four minor affiliates, are eligible to submit nominations for the 47th annual general meeting.

A total of 29 nominations were submitted but two were disqualified as nominations for both slates were submitted by a single club, which is not permitted.

The two slates fall under the category - Team Speid and Team Mitchell with Speid receiving 18 nominations to Mitchell's nine.
