Dear Pastor,

I know that being a gay is a big issue for many people, especially in Jamaica where homophobia is extreme to the extent of people being actually killed for being gay.

I think this is a very primitive and ignorant behaviour and it is high time for people to start respecting people for who and what they are and come out of the dark ages.

Some people think that homosexuality is a psychological problem that can be undone by psychological analysis. Homosexuality is something that is a true feeling, and it does not just go away just to suit everybody who is offended by it. People need to wake up and realise that we are all human beings at the end of the day and that love is what is important, whether between a man and a woman, a woman and another woman or a man and another man.

Why do people want to judge all the time? Who are we to judge? There is only one judge, and we all know who that is, so leave it to the one who will judge us all.

Gay Man

Dear Gay Man,

You are an angry man. You are gay, but why should you be angry because others do not agree with your lifestyle, or the gay lifestyle in general? Why should you believe that people who do not support homosexuality are wrong in the position they have taken and that they are condemning homosexuals? Because some people do not support homosexuality does not necessarily mean that they are condemning them or advocating any harm to them.

Some people believe that homosexuals cannot change. Others disagree. Some folks who were homosexuals have declared that through psychotherapy and their religious convictions they have abandoned such a practice.

Evidently, you have taken a different position, and that is your prerogative.

Please understand that those who take the opposite position have a right to disagree with you. And it is not because they are ignorant why they do so.
