Greetings to you. I am a regular reader of your column and I must congratulate you on the good work you are doing. I am having a problem. I have been trying to get pregnant from about a year ago without success. My boyfriend and I became concerned and we visited a doctor and he recommended that my boyfriend to do a test.

He did the test and the results showed that my boyfriend has a low sperm count. The doctor also recommended that he take a particular medication for a period of time. He took it for the time, but it did not seem to be working. We are still trying and nothing is happening.

I am confused because the medication cost a lot of money and we don't want to continue to buy it and it is not working. I am asking you for your advice and your prayers. My boyfriend is very depressed and he is not eating or sleeping, and it worries me.

Dear S.C.,

Your man and you are behaving as if you have a right to have children. If your boyfriend and you are in love, and that love is genuine, both of you would stay together and trust the Lord for a child. Your man is acting as if the doctor can create a miracle through the drugs he prescribed. And I believe that you are putting pressure on him to impregnate you.

Some couples have been married for years before they have children. If the doctor says this man has a low sperm count he has to do much more than just take the medication. I am sure the doctor instructed him about what he should or should not do.

Just about every man would like to be called a father, but not every man has been able to impregnate a woman. That is why lots of women have given men "jackets." And these men proudly wear the "jackets" with waistcoat and all. Everybody knows that they are not the father of these children, but they accept them because they prefer to have them than none at all.
