Firearm seizure
The Montego Hills police seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Norwood, St James, on Saturday night. Reports reaching THE STAR are that about 9 p.m., a team of officers was on patrol in the Bottom Road area of Norwood, where they conducted spot checks. One woman was stopped and searched and a Smith Wesson 9mm pistol and fourteen 9mm rounds were taken from her. Her identity is being withheld pending further investigations. Teen drowns Thirteen-year-old Sanekey Holding of Pleasant View district, St Andrew, drowned at Somerset Falls on Saturday. Reports from the Hope Bay police are that about 2:30 p.m., Sanekey, who was at the park on a community excursion, was standing on a rock when she lost her balance and fell into the water and got into difficulty. She was pulled from the water by the lifeguard on duty, who administered CPR. She was later rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead. Investigations continue. |
