Tastee Talent Trail roadshow series a hit

Chalking up another first in its impressive history, the Tastee Talent Trail unveiled the first in a series of road shows.

This year, in an effort to keep the contestants visible after auditions, a number of road shows have been added with a view to showcasing the selectees from each audition. The first of these was held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, when the eight selectees from Ocho Rios were showcased in Mandeville prior to the auditions, which were held on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Manchester high school. This resulted in a massive turnout, which established a record for a first-time audition location.

This format will continue on Saturday, July 21 when the road show will go through Montego Bay with a final stop at the Tastee Depot at 105 Barnett Street where the nine selectees from Mandeville will perform. This will precede the Montego Bay auditions the following Saturday at the same location.

Since 2007, when the Tastee Talent Contest was rebranded as the Tastee Talent Trial, thus becoming a television event, the Tastee Talent Trail has grown tremendously. In 2010, a reality segment was added, which resulted in the Tastee Talent Trail becoming the most viewed programme of its genre on local television.

Last year's third-place winner, DJ Camalla Latouche, has been booked as emcee for the series. The road show in the 2012 series will continue with stops at Rudolph Elders Park in Morant Bay on Saturday, August 4, where the Montego Bay selectees will be showcased. Then on Saturday, September 1, the Morant Bay selectees will be showcased before ending in Portmore on Saturday, September 15, where the Kingston selectees will perform.
