1st DAY AT WORK, MAN LOSES TOE - Chops self while cutting grass

A gardener who used a machete to dismember one of his toes on the first day of his job in upper St Andrew, has left several persons commenting and talking about the incident.

"Mi say me feel it fi him, when mi look pan him face mi coulda see say him ina whole heap a pain," one worker said.

THE STAR understands that the incident happened on Saturday in the Kingston 9 area.

Information received is that the man, who is said to be from St Mary, was hired by a prominent attorney to keep the grounds of his yard clean and trimmed.

It is alleged that about one hour after he began chopping out the yard, he received the injury.

"Mi say me deh ina the house and only hear when the man bawl out. When mi run go look a whey do him a bare blood mi see. Mi nuh know how him manage mek dat happen to him the fus day the boss call him fi work," explained the worker.

It is understood that the gardener was taken to a doctor for treatment following the incident.

When the location was visited yesterday, THE STAR was informed that he no longer worked there.

The grounds manager who was reluctant to provide much detail said that the man had been paid off and told not to return.

She commented, "Mr ... say from him come him neva look right, him say him kinda look crazy so I mus send him home."
