Several persons have been arrested in connection with an electricity scam in Seaview Gardens, St Andrew. Information reaching THE STAR is that on Saturday, the police and a Jamaica Public Service (JPS) team acting on intelligence carried out an operation in the area and were able to catch the alleged perpetrators of the illegal act. The JPS said the scam involved monthly payments to persons, who arranged for residents to steal electricity from their neighbours. The suspects have not been named. In the meantime, the company has committed US$12.15 million (J$1.065 billion) to fight electricity theft this year.
