If a pin was dropped before THE STAR began interviewing Ryan Clarkeand Sashauna Miller, anyone metres away could hear.

As soon as the interview began, the expressions on their faces were that they were in a new space and about to embark on a journey with no certain ending.

Ryan, 30, a barber by profession and Sashauna, 26, a teacher in training, told THE STAR they met through a friend who introduced them to each other while at a party in 2007 in east Kingston.

They were on and off before Sashauna got pregnant and now that the child is four years old, the on-and-off relationship still exists. Ryan has confessed he has had it with the uncertainty and decided to do a DNA test. Sashauna on the other hand is adamant she has no reason for a test. But because Ryan has now become a bother by insisting that the test be done, she is willing to assist in bringing closure.

He said: "I want the truth ... I love him and have been raising him since he was born so at least I should know the truth."

She said: "I know he is the father ... I am 110 per cent sure he is."

He said: "If the test shows that he is mine, I will continue to grow him and take care of my responsibilities. If he is not mine, then I really don't know what to think (while scratching his head) ... I can't manage that."

She said: "I already know it is his child ... The result could never say otherwise. The child is in his name ... I would never do that if I wasn't certain."

He said: "I have been hearing a lot of chit chat in different circles. People tell me who the other father might be, because him and her have been seeing each other especially after she found out I was cheating. I have even heard that him a tell people that is his youth and she give me."

She said: "I don't know about that ... I don't have any doubts! Him a listen to what people a say ... I told him me and the other person were slightly involved and I also told him me and the other person were never together while he was my partner. I was not sleeping with both of dem at the same time or during the same period."

He said: "Yes, and a few people from the community know that we have been on this topic for a while now and that's one of the main reason ... this has been left hanging for too long.

She said: "I don't know if the 'community' knows ... Nobody outside of my family has ever said anything to me."

He said: "The child used to look like my brother, but as he grows him looks kind of change ... Some people say him look like me now so I really not sure."

She said: "The child looks like Ryan and his side of family. The baby's built is from my side of family."
