Raymond Graham, Star Writer WORLD 100 metres champion Yohan Blake and Olympic 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce were in stellar form at the National Stadium last night, as both scored impressive wins to capture the men's and women's 100m title at the JAAA Supreme Ventures National Trials. Blake, known as 'The Beast' for his furious work ethic, really let loose in an awesome display, as he blew away the likes of world 100 metres record holder Usain Bolt and former world-record holder Asafa Powell to win the event in a new Stadium record of 9.75. The slow-starting Bolt ran on strongly to pip Powell on the line for second in 9.86 seconds, with Powell finishing third in 9.88 seconds. The ever consistent Michael Frater was fourth in 9.94 seconds, with the vastly improved Kemar Bailey Cole finishing fifth in a personal-best 10.00 seconds. Minutes earlier the stage was set for an epic evening as Fraser-Pryce clocked a new National record of 10.70 seconds to win the women's event. Using her usual trademark start, Fraser-Pryce, known as the 'Pocket Rocket', was out of the blocks very fast to pull off a runaway win. Veronica Capmbell-Brown had to settle for second in 10.72 seconds, as Kerron Stewart took third in 10. 94 seconds. Money's worth Billed as the biggest 100 metres clashes so far this season, the large crowd certainly got their money's worth. Fraser-Pryce had looked short of form at the start of the season but sent a clear signal that she was getting back to her best with her first sub-11 clocking of the season a few weeks ago, comfortably beating a field which included the likes of World Champion Carmelita Jeter and her compatriot Allyson Felix in New York.
