Manhunt on for taxi driver

A manhunt has been launched for a taxi driver who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a female passenger in Black River, St Elizabeth, last month.

The accused, who the police say is from Middle Quarters in the parish, plies the Santa Cruz to Black River route.

Allegations are that about 8 p.m., on the evening in question, the woman boarded the man's taxi for Black River.

During the journey he allegedly diverted on to a section of the YS main road and attempted to rape the passenger.

Reports are that the woman managed to escape and was taken to the Black River Police Station where she reported the matter.

THE STAR understands that following the incident the taxi man fled the area.

In the meantime, the Black River police are asking him to turn himself in for questioning.
