FIREARM, AMMUNITION FOUND

The Montego Hill police seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Melbourne, Montego Hill, St. James on Wednesday night. No one was arrested in connection with the find. Reports are that about 10:25 p.m., police were on patrol in the community when they attempted to accost a group of men. The men however escaped. During a subsequent search of the area, a 9 mm Browning pistol and eleven 9mm rounds were found. Investigations are ongoing.

COPS SEIZED FIREARM

The police seized a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Rollington Town, Kingston 2, on Wednesday afternoon. No one was arrested in connection with the find. Reports from the Rollington Town police are that about 2:15 p.m., an operation was carried out by personnel from the Elletson Road police and the Motorised Patrol Division in the Rollington Avenue area of the community. During the search, a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver and six .38 rounds were seized. Investigations continue.

FIRE DAMAGES HOME

Fire of unknown origin damaged a section of a five-bedroom dwelling in Ketterin district, Duncans, Trelawny yesterday afternoon. No one was injured in the incident. Reports from the Duncans police are that about 3:25 p.m., the owner of the house was alerted by residents that smoke was coming from a section of the house. The police and the fire department were alerted. Units from the Falmouth Fire Department extinguished the blaze. Damage is estimated to be about $2 million. Investigations continue.
