Amid all the recent drama that she has been implicated in, Queen of the Dancehall, Lady Saw has taken another big step on the international stage, as she recently collaboration with American Boy singer Estelle.

While in Tortola for a performance, Lady Saw was approached by the London-born Grammy Award winning R&B singer-songwriter to work together when she came to Jamaica to perform.

Studio time was booked at the Anchor Recording Studios, but due to complications, Lady Saw had to do recordings from her home.

She said the song is one that she was very comfortable doing.

"It's a song that's right up my ally. They can't tell me nothing about my man. I'm Lady Saw innit, and I'm also Marion. When we sent it to her she said that she loved it," Saw shared.

This is not her first collaboration with an international act, as Saw earned a Grammy Award for her featured performance on No Doubt's single Underneath It All and peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the 1999 Smile, recorded with Vitamin C.

After what she describes as the "unnecessary drama" that has recently surrounded her career, Lady Saw is now distancing herself from female artistes within the dancehall genre.

Problems began she said, after a television interview she did was cut and edited, misrepresenting her answers to questions.

"Someone took it, cut it up and put the two girl name in the wrong places. The whole world can see that it cut up," said Lady Saw.

She said that she was surprised when she saw interviews addressing the same situation in the media.

Since then, Lady Saw said her fans have been asking, "why mi nuh tek dem on."

To this Lady Saw said, "Yuh doan have anything to tell a next female other than under her clothes. That is so degrading and I would never do that no matter how much money it is up for. If a that dem (female artistes) a look for, it will never happen. All my career, have you ever seen me in the mix-up? "

She continued, "They are killing themself and in the process trying to bring me down with them. They want me to take them on and then them can seh Mumma Saw a mash down the little artiste and show me up in a bad light. That is what they are working on but that will never happen. The thing with Tanya Stephens, I walked away from that and since me start recording again as Lady Saw, everybody have a problem. If yuh want the business tek it, tek the whole of it."

Remaining outside the friend zone

Saw says she would like to remain outside the friend zone of other female artistes as the drama is less when she takes that stance.

"I didn't ask people to name me queen or the mumma but I doan fraid a nuh gal. As of now, I don't want any female chat to mi. I just hate this drama, I just want them to come offa mi name. To be on the safe side I don't want any friendship. I will cheer for you and buss mi blank dem but just stay away from mi. I'm going to love you guys from a distance. I said nobody can fill my shoes. I'm not saying that nobody cannot strive for their own and achieve the most that they can," she said.

Lady Saw's hectic summer schedule has already began with the promotions of some of her latest songs such as Age and Man Tief.

A movie that she appears in is also soon to be released.
