HIV-positive man held for rape

A 38-year-old man who is believed to be HIV-positive is now in police custody charged with rape, THE WEEKEND STAR understands.

He is charged for raping a 16-year-old school friend of his daughter.

According to detectives from the Centre for the Investigation for Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA), last month, the accused man's daughter, who attends a high school in Kingston, took out her friend for her birthday.

The complainant later accompanied her friend home for the night.

Our news team understands that the complainant later reported that while she was sleeping, she felt someone sexually assaulting her.

She woke up and saw her friend's father on top of her. She then found that her hands and feet were bound. It was also discovered that the man is HIV-positive. A report was made to CISOCA and after investigations the man was arrested and charged.

THE WEEKEND STAR was told by detectives at CISOCA that he will face the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court in short order.
