Rasbert Turner, Star Writer Deejay Sheldon 'Devra Bratt' Smith was granted bail yesterday in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on sex-related charges. When the matter was called up, a lawyer representing the 32-year-old artiste said his client is not a flight-risk. Bail was subsequently granted in the sum of $150,000. The lawyer said that his client has a busy schedule on the entertainment calendar, and that he is due to tour Germany for a month. "He is scheduled to leave the island on Thursday and return July 10, Your Honour," the lawyer said. As a result the RM ruled that he should try to avoid any contact with the complainant in the case. assault The artiste is scheduled to reappear on August 14 to answer to the charges of indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm. Smith was charged by the St Catherine South police on Friday after a report was made to them. It is alleged that he took two women home and wanted to have sex with them, but they spurned his advances. It is alleged one of the girls was punched repeatedly causing bruises. The matter was reported to the Bridgeport police and following an investigation, Smith was taken into custody and later charged. |
