SMILES SHINE AND SUNSHINE TOO!

Mi bawl whole heap a tears last week. Yeah, big man can cry too, a wha? But mi done now though, 'cause funeral done and burial ovah! It's back to fun and return to laughter.

Yes, some bawling vibes, frowns and monkey-face feelings were threatening to settle permanently pon mi face like squatters pon government land, but mi wash dem off, and put on my favourite jam - Bob Marley's Sun is Shining. The rhythm guitar galloped towards mi ears like hooves of golden horses being ridden by the transcendent vocals of the reggae icon saying 'Sun is shining, the weather is sweet. Makes you wanna move your dancing feet ... ' Tune!!! And just like that mi nice again!

Trust me, peeps, any time bad vibes gwaan like it want fi knock me over, I can always depend on that Bob Marley song to get me back into my happy groove. It soothes me, strengthens me and sends me on a natural high! Yu waan si mi now; I just buck di volume and me alone inna mi room a beat wall and buss blanks and rocking up a storm. What a sweet, simple but powerful song!

inspiring

That song beautifully observes the inspiring creativity of nature, and celebrates the glory and divinity of the universe as it reminds us that we don't even need music fi get into a dancing mood. Unnu ever really penetrate the lyrics? Mr Marley just look pon di sunshine and acknowledge di sweet weather and it mek him want fi drop legs same time. I think that's just beautiful, and it never fails to uplift my spirits.

Fi real, friends; this song is therapy. It's my radiant rainbow after grey clouds and floods. And I intend to project, promote, transmit and share the energy it creates. Yeah, man, when my spirit is in these delightfully dizzying heights of positive energy, I feel empowered to spread more smiles, encourage more laughter and engender more hope. So if unnu feeling under the clouds of sadness and despair at this moment, I want to be that glint of sunshine squeezing through. As brother Bob says in the second verse of the song, 'When the morning gathers the rainbow, want you to know I'm a rainbow too! Lyrics!

Yeah, rain haffi fall, yes. And life is sometimes dark and dreary. But look around you, people, sun shines!

Yes, mi know say it obvious but mi still need fi tell some a unnu that father God's sun shines. It shines after rain. And it shines each new morning after every dark night. And it's the same thing with smiles. They shine. Smiles shine after pain. They re-emerge after hurt like new plants from the dirt. And smiles shine after many a dark fight. Every sad today can find a happy tomorrow. Just like sun reigns after showers. And buried pains fertilise flowers.

The storms of reality sometimes take the ship of our lives off-course and we drift to diverse, dark and desperate places. I can attest to that. And if we follow the devil (that liar and thief), we'd forget about hope and dwell in perpetual grief. But I also testify to the firm belief, that as hope truly springs eternal, smiles cyaan done. We all have to go through the moments of anguish.

I think, though, that what helps us most to survive sadness and bitterness is the subconscious surety of sweetness that must come after. So with hurt contained and hearts unconstrained, we dutifully depart from mourning and return to laughter. And is that me a do yah now.

Sun is shining, so I'm dancing. My heart is in the heavens and my eyes are on the prize. And mi a go buy a lotto ticket as well. Why? As Marley tells me in the closing lines, 'Awake from your sleep and slumber, today could be your lucky number.' Rayyyy!!!!!!
