Charges are expected to be laid against the driver of the Nissan Frontier which claimed the lives of five persons in the vicinity of the Falmouth bypass in Trelawny last Friday morning. Mark Amos, the man who was reported to be the driver, will likely be charged this week with several counts of manslaughter. He is now recovering from injuries sustained in the mishap. According to reports, the crash reportedly occurred after the driver of the van tried to overtake a bus carrying tourists and slammed head-on into a Toyota Caldina, which was heading in the opposite direction. Police have identified the deceased persons as 47-year-old Marion Johnson, her daughter Alicia Hussey, 25, Odaine Mullings, 23, Roary McKenzie, 21 and 44-year-old Fitzroy Hawthorne. THE STAR understands that Marion was out celebrating her birthday with her two children Alicia and Joel Moses. It was while they were on their way home that the accident happened. Joel is reported to be still in hospital nursing injuries he received. When contacted, the Trelawny police though seeming somewhat tight-lipped, told THE STAR that investigations are being channeled through their traffic department. Efforts to speak with a representative from that section proved futile.
