Court to decide if ... blind man beats lover to death

A visually impaired man was dragged before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday on allegations that he murdered his girlfriend.

Charged with murder is Stephen Taylor from a Kingston address.

Taylor was remanded for a psychiatric evaluation and is to return to court on August 24.

It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the accused who felt a piece of board being pushed against his side, thought it was a knife.

The court heard that the accused went in search of a piece of metal and beat the complainant to death.

Taylor was subsequently arrested and charged.

It is reported that the incident happened on a school compound in the Kencot area.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, who had concerns about Taylor's mental condition, ordered a psychiatric report for the next mention date in August.
