A visually impaired man was dragged before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday on allegations that he murdered his girlfriend. Charged with murder is Stephen Taylor from a Kingston address. Taylor was remanded for a psychiatric evaluation and is to return to court on August 24. It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the accused who felt a piece of board being pushed against his side, thought it was a knife. The court heard that the accused went in search of a piece of metal and beat the complainant to death. Taylor was subsequently arrested and charged. It is reported that the incident happened on a school compound in the Kencot area. Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, who had concerns about Taylor's mental condition, ordered a psychiatric report for the next mention date in August.
