24-y-o held on fraud charge |

Rasbert Turner, Portmore Star Writer A 24-year-old Portmore man is now in custody on charges of manufacturing and possession of counterfeit currency. According to the Portmore police, a team went into the 3 West area of Portmore in search of criminals. During the search of a house, the suspect was held with counterfeit currency amounting to $7,500. Equipment, including printers, was taken from the premises. "We are investigating cases of persons using fake money in the general area. we are going to get all of them," investigator told THE PORTMORE STAR. THE PORTMORE STAR was informed that the man held the mastermind behind the production and distribution of fake money. "Businesses in the Braeton and Greater Portmore areas have been suffering from criminals purchasing goods with the bad money," a sergeant said. It was revealed that there are criminals passing fake $500, $100, and $1,000 bills as genuine currency. The man's name is being withheld pending further investigations. |
