Hasani Walters, STAR Writer "Hi Jamaica. My name is Romain Virgo!" Years after Romain Virgo officially introduced himself to Jamaica in a video interview prior to the finals of the 2007 Digicel Rising Stars competition, he stood on Wednesday night before hundreds of fans who gathered at the Emancipation Park. The occasion was the launch of his second album, The System. Friends, fans, and family all came out to celebrate with the young entertainer on the night. A number of his co-workers brought their own brand to the stage before Virgo, in his White Sky-designed attire, made his way to the stage. He performed several songs from the album, much to the delight of the audience, as they waved and sang along at times. The 15-track album comprises mainly social commentaries and love songs. It includes The System, I Know Better, I Am Rich In Love, and Don't You Remember, a cover of the song made popular by Adele. Virgo told The STAR that he was happy with the support he received on the night.
"It's always a good feeling to see people come out and support Romain Virgo, and we've seen that tonight. There are so many people outside now. I never expected to see so many people, but it's open to everybody, and I know it's real Romain Virgo fans that are out there, and we give thanks for them. It just motivates me to know that I must just work harder, and maybe the next album launch will be even bigger," he said. He also said the album was one that could be enjoyed by many as its compositions were of an excellent quality.
"The system is something for everybody, no mater the race, the creed, the colour, the religion. It has from social commentaries to songs of love. The whole of that inna the system," shared Virgo.
Upon its release, The System debuted at number six on the Billboard reggae charts.
