In January 2005, dancehall music lost one of its most colourful personalities when dancer Gerald 'Bogle' Levy was shot dead at a service station along Constant Spring Road, St Andrew.

Three years later, David Alexander Smith, more popularly known as 'Ice', was gunned down along Newark Avenue, Kingston 11.

This year, tribute is being paid to the two in the form of an 'all-dancing' album done by Shaka Pow.

Titled 'Dancing 101', the 24-track album features dancing tracks such as Rubba Bounce, Move Dem Up, Gully Creepa and Splice.

Shaka Pow told The WEEKEND STAR the decision to make the album a tribute to the two was because of their great contribution to the world of dancing and the influence they still have over the field.

"It's a definite tribute to Bogle and Ice, especially. It's also a great product that represents for the whole dancing fraternity," said Shaka Pow.

He added that the album has been a "10-year journey", as some of his older songs such as LOY, on Steely & Clevie's 2000 'Bad Weather' rhythm, have been included in its composition.

On the album is also Gully Net, made from a dance which Shaka Pow claimed was created by Ice before his death, but was never popularised.

Another such move is the female dance, Creature Wine, which he said Ice also helped to create.

Shaka Pow said the album has been doing okay on iTunes, with the majority of support being in places such as Japan and Europe.

He is now focusing his energy on creating hard-core dancehall songs.

His recent collaboration with German dancehall queen Swagi Maggi, Top Up, has being doing well in that country, earning him increased attention from overseas promoters.
