RAYMOND GRAHAM:

WORLD Senior Champion-ships representative Anneisha McLaughlin and former outstanding Wolmer's Boy's athlete Julian Forte were in awesome form on Saturday's staging of the JAAA All Comers meet, held at the University of West Indies Usain Bolt Track. Both sprinters had impressive wins in their respective events, as athletes fine-tune for next month's National Junior and Senior Championships.

The meet, which was the third so far this season, saw the Stephen Francis-coached McLaughlin, competing for MVP Track Club, inflicting the first 100 metres defeat of the season to the University of Technology's Carrie Russell. McLaughlin clocked 11.24 seconds to get the better of Russell, who was second in 11.33 seconds. The Mico University College's TrudyAnn Richards finished third in 11.76 seconds. Christania Williams of Edwin Allen, who was making her first appearance since her injury, at the ISSA Boys and Girls', Championships, finished seventh behind McLaughlin in 12.09 seconds, which gave her 12th overall.

plagued by injuries

The talented Forte, who was outstanding for Wolmer's Boys at Champs as a first year Class I athlete, but whose career has been plagued by injuries so far, gave glimpse of his immense talent on Saturday. Forte, who is eligible for the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, this summer, was in blistering form and became one of the country's fastest ever junior athletes when he clocked a personal best 10.19 seconds.

The time made him the second fastest junior in the world so far this season, tied with the United States duo of Abraham Hall and Tyreek Hill. Only Nigeria's Eseosa Desalu, who clocked 10.18 seconds in Monte-negro in mid-May, has gone faster. The new was not as good for Bridgeport High's Jazeel Murphy, who is expected to be one of the top contenders at the World Junior Championships, slowing down behind Forte to finish at the back of the field in 10.90 seconds looking in some discomfort. Forte teammates at MVP, Omar Douglas (10.34) and Andrew Hinds (10.36) seconds were second and third, respectively.
