Driver held for 130 unpaid tickets |

![]() Rasbert Turner, Star Writer Police yesterday arrested a motorist who they claimed had 130 outstanding traffic tickets. The bus driver was reportedly held when police intercepted his bus as he drove through a cane field in St Catherine. He was immediately taken into custody after the police ran his licence and saw the amount of traffic violations he had. enforcement duties The Ferry police told THE STAR that the driver was driving a public passenger vehicle (PPV) Toyota coaster bus, through Caymanas to elude police officers, who were conducting traffic enforcement duties on the Mandela Highway. They said the driver was detained about 7:30 a.m., and eventually was charged with: operating off his route, driving from a place that is not a road and not wearing his uniform. But it was when checks were made on the driver's licence that the arresting policemen almost had a fit. startling revelation "When the licence was run through the system, we made the startling revelation," a source at the Ferry station revealed. "Among the charges (he has for the outstanding tickets) are disobeying a constable's command, not ensuring the safety of passengers, and no seat belt, among several other traffic violations." The police said it was wrong for the driver to have driven near Caymanas Bay and through the cane field. On Tuesday, the police said Germaine Morris, the man who was reportedly driving a Toyota Hiace which overturned and resulted in the death of Lennox Lloyd, a 15-year-old Ascot High student, had 85 outstanding traffic tickets. Up to late yesterday, both drivers were still in police custody. |
