Boys' Town's captain Michael Campbell says he is not overly surprised at being named the Most Valuable Player of the recently concluded Red Stripe Premier League.

The midfielder, who finished third in the leading goalscorer race, and led his team to a close second place in the league, was presented with the award during Monday's Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) presentation ceremony at The Courtleigh Corporate Centre.

"I was surprised, but not overly surprised, when I heard it was me. I thought based on my performances I had a chance," said the 33-year-old Campbell, who for the second year running also picked up the Tony Burrowes Player Personality Award.

"I thought Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson, who scored 14 goals, and Alanzo Adlam, 12 goals, were worthy competitors.

"But they are forwards and I am a midfielder, who not only scored 10 goals, but also assisted in many, which allowed the team to seriously challenge for the title."

Campbell was one of several players, teams, officials and referees who received awards on the night.

Dino Williams, of relegated Village United, was named Junior Player of the Year, while Andrew Price of Boys' Town was named Coach of the Year. Montego Bay United's Kareem Kelly was named Manager of the Year.

The night also saw Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson of Waterhouse being officially handed the leading goalscorer award, while another Boys' Town player, Kirk Porter, picked up the top goalkeeper award.

FIFA referee Courtney Campbell walked away with the Referee of the Year accolade.

Arnett Gardens were presented with the JFF/PLCA Under-21 trophy after getting the better of Portmore and Tivoli Gardens.

Meanwhile, it was all smiles for Portmore's captain Adrian Reid who, along with his teammates, was presented with a championship medal and the league trophy from Premier Leagues Club Association Chairman Edward Seaga and Red Stripe Brand Manager Erin Mitchell.

Others who were in attendance included Opposition Leader Andrew Holness and members of the Reggae Boyz team, who are preparing for their second-leg friendly international tie with Panama on Friday, in Panama City.
