INDECOM probes if ... Cop beats woman for lover

A policeman is now at the centre of an investigation being carried out by both his colleagues and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) after he was accused of using a piece of board to beat a young girl from his community for his lover, THE STAR has learnt.

According to recent reports, one central Kingston community was a buzz with two days of excitement stemming from an altercation which involved the policeman's alleged girlfriend and another female.

The fighting started as a result of a water war.

That has left 28-year-old Simone Anderson contending that she was brutally assaulted by the lawman who above anything else, should have apprehended both.

She told THE STAR, "It started last week Sunday, there was a fight in Fletcher's Land on Love Lane. My friends and I were involved in a verbal confrontation with the policeman's girlfriend ... stones and bottles were being used to throw at each other."

bottles and stones

Our news team understands that due to the excitement from an intense throwing of bottles and stones, a large gathering had converged on the scene close to the Fletcher's Land Police Station, and back up had to be sought from cops from the Kingston Central Police Station.

According to reports, when the back up came, several warning shots were fired in the air and the people ran for cover, and it brought an abrupt end to the excitement. But another round of argument began the following day. Simone said she, however, was not involved in this latest round but was watching.

Our news team was told that at this point the alleged abusive officer came to the scene on Church Street, and grabbed Simone.

Simone explains, "After I am there standing and a look wah gwan di man grab me, and start fi beat mi up, first him lick mi ina mi knee with the board and mi drop a ground ... him start to lick mi all over and mi have fi skilful, and used my hands to shield off a few a di blows. In the end, my hands dem swell, cut up and black and blue ... very painful."

Our news team was told that Simone had to seek medical attention at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) and according to her she received three injections, two on the arm and one on her bottom.

The Kingston Central police confirmed that a report was made to the station against the policeman, but declined to give further details, while INDECOM said the matter is being probed, adding that a medical report from KPH was outstanding and upon receipt they will move further into their investigations.
