Man on murder rap set free |

Barbara Gayle, Staff Reporter A man who was accused of firing five shots, killing another man in proximity to where the police were at a crime scene on Great George's Street, Westmoreland, in October 2010, has been freed in the Westmoreland Circuit Court. The jury retired for 15 minutes on Wednesday and found Damion 'Monkey Man' Hart, 24, a fisherman from Savanna-la-Mar, not guilty of the murder of Conroy Duhaney, also from Savanna-la-Mar. denied the offence Hart, who was represented by attorneys-at-law Leonard Green and Tashakay Peru, denied committing the offence. He said he was a spectator where the police were processing a murder scene. Two policemen had testified for the Crown that they had cordoned off sections of Great Georges Street where Glendon Barrett was shot and killed. They said they saw Hart firing shots at Duhaney. The witnesses said five shots were fired. Justice Donald McIntosh presided at the trial. |
