A foreign national is now dead as a result of injuries she received in a fatal collision yesterday on the Rosehall main road in St James.

She is 48-year-old Latanya Shivers of Ohio, USA.

Reports received are that about 11:15 a.m., the driver of a Toyota Hiace minibus was travelling from Montego Bay towards Falmouth. On reaching a section of the roadway, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and hit Shivers and a man who were standing among a group of persons on the sidewalk. The police were summoned and they were rushed to the hospital.

Shivers died while undergoing treatment and the man admitted in stable condition.

The driver of the minibus has since been taken into custody for questioning in relation to the incident. The Coral Gardens Police are investigating.
