Alleged robber remanded |

|
A man who allegedly robbed a woman of J$1.5 million and US$5,000 ($440,000) outside of a bank after she made a transaction was remanded His trial date was set for May 29. Charged with robbery with violence is Oneil Thompson who resides in the Corporate Area. He has, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court was told that Thompson during the robbery pushed the complainant to the ground and made off with the bag containing the cash. He was apprehended by a policeman who near by and saw what was taking place. According to reports, all the cash was retrieved from him. However, while the matter was being discussed in the courtroom, a lawyer representing the complainant told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that her client had only received $1.4 million and US$4,000 ($352,000) of the amount she had. The disappearance of the $100,000 and US$1,000 ($88,000) remained unaccounted for during the hearing of the matter. |
