STUDENTS STONE POLICE IN 'SPAIN' |

Joined protest against the removal of vendors selling illegally Students in Spanish Town hurled several stones at police yesterday after the lawmen attempted to remove illegal vendors from the streets. The incident took place in the St Catherine capital in the afternoon. In addition to the stones being thrown, other persons blocked the road with debris and lit fires. The Fire Department later came and extinguished the blaze. An investigation is now underway to deal with the illegal vending on the streets of the 'Old Capital'. For some time, the St Catherine Parish Council has expressed concern about vending in the area. It is not known if any arrests were made in connection with the incident. But investigations are continuing. |
