Tropical Paradise a treat

W hy spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon at home when you can spend it in 'Paradise'?

On Sunday, May 13, DMJ Promotions hosted Cocomania Tropical Paradise at Liguanea Club, New Kingston.

In the early segment, DJ Chris Diamond was on turntable duties. He created a buzz for the early birds with throwback hip hop songs such as Ja Rule's Clap Back, Barrington Levy's Badboy and Outkast's Fresh and Clean.

Encouraging persons to "visit the bar" at intervals, the bar staff were kept busy all night.

He ended his set with Too Good To Be True, making way for Supa Hype and the 007 team.

By this time, the venue was filling up nicely. The females outnumbered the men, a ratio the 'galists' were loving, as they used the opportunity to gyrate with as many females as they could.

You can't be in Paradise and not have ice cream, and the tasty treat was provided by Morgan's Delight. This added a nice touch which complimented the decor.

Dj Liquid showed why he is still rated as one of the best disc jocks in the business, spinning some hardcore tracks from the likes of Jah Vinci, Vybz Kartel, Aidonia and Popcaan.

Liquid's set pumped the adrenaline of the patrons as some danced up a storm, or threw their hands skyward, while others rocked on the spot, sipping on their drink of choice.

wanting for more

Supa Hype, now in his second segment, was firing on all cylinders with a few hits out of Konshens' catalogue, including Whine and Bad Gyal, leaving patrons wanting for more.

They were definitely given more as it was announced that an extension was granted, a news welcomed along with Tommy Lee's intro "Gaza man dem crazy".

Allowing Chris Diamond the opportunity to finish what he started, songs such as Nuff Gyal, Rocking Robin and Like a Virgin were played.

Promoter for the event, Doneisha Johnson, was pleased with the turnout and was especially thrilled about upcoming events that are now in the planning stages.

"Based on what happened tonight, I am so excited about upcoming events, as this is the fourth staging of Tropical Paradise and it keeps growing each time," she said.

Adding: "I really appreciate everyone that came out to make this event a success, the patrons, the sponsors and production team."

Look out for more from DMJ Promotions over the summer and later on this year.
