KSAC, SDC organise Clean Community Competition

As part of the celebrations for the 140th anniversary of Kingston, a competition that will have residents cleaning is now being organised.

The Downtown Clean Community Competition is set to kick off on Monday and will offer several communities the chance to walk away with a prize.

This competition is being organised by the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) and the Social Development Commission (SDC) and will run over 10 days. The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) will sponsor the main prize.

The competition will take place across communities in Kingston such as Tivoli Gardens, Hannah Town and surrounding areas across to Rae Town.

These communities will, over the 10 days of competition, organise and clean up their surroundings. They are to remove all garbage, wastes and carry out painting work.

The National Solid Waste Management Authority will drive through these communities and remove all the garbage.

After this process is complete a team of judges from the KSAC, SDC, The Gleaner and the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), will on May 31 inspect these communities and select a winner.

The plan of action is to make this an annual competition to maintain the cleanliness in these communities.
