Gregory Williams, who goes by the stage name Ras Omeeks, is a jovial and multi-talented, musically competent singer and songwriter.

Born in St Elizabeth, Williams was the first child in a relatively large family of seven children.

After moving to St James, he attended Granville All-Age School and began exploring his musical talents, which were recognised in church. There he became a member of the children's choir and played various instruments.

All this experience in music later led Ras Omeeks to his musical interests, which included writing songs, listening to different types of music, especially classical, and playing the acoustic guitar. These activities introduced him to his favourite musical icons; Bob Marley, Sam Cooke, Jimmy Cliff and Garnet Silk, among other great musicians.

The Wonderful World artiste made his very first competitive performance in 1995 at the Tastee Talent Show, where he was well received by the audience.

Ras Omeeks became a member of a group formed in 1997 called True Tradition, Family, which had their debut on Sting 1998.

The Need Some Paepa artiste then began solo recordings in 1999 with several singles which were produced by Stephen Stanley.

Since then, he has done many other recordings, but received audio-visual exposure in the Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley remix of Turn Your Lights Down Low. This was followed by Star Search at Trax and Digicel Rising Stars in 2005.

The latter resulted in his inclusion in the top 10 finalists from Montego Bay. Needing more control of his creative talents, he started his own label called Capture Land Records, in 2009. From this new venture emerged the hit single Oh My. Memorable performances were done at Follow Di Arrow, Reggae In Di Valley and Kite Festival.

Ras Omeeks says, "My song Praising Rastafari is doing well in Europe, which led to an article published in the French magazine called Reggae Vibes. Also, I have three songs which are receiving rave reviews."

Also Ras Omeeks' songs, Oh My, Need Some Paepa and a cover version of Sam Cook's Wonderful World are all being highlighted overseas.

"Fans can see my videos for the songs Oh My and Need Some Paepa which are being rotated. Look out for more, my fans will never be disappointed," quipped Ras Omeeks.
