Romain's 'The System' hits Billboard Charts

Singer, Romain Virgo's new sophomore album, 'The System', has hit the Reggae Billboard chart. The album, which was released last week, made its debut in the number six spot yesterday.

Virgo, whose work has shown undeniable depth and maturity since the release of his excellent debut album, Romain Virgo, says he is elated by the news. "When I found out I was really happy to tell you the truth. We worked extremely hard on this album, from the songwriting, to production and packaging - the entire thing. So it's definitely a great feeling to have it on the Billboard charts, especially so soon after it was released."

Virgo, who is known for his effortless hits, System, Cyaa Sleep, Dark Skin Girl, Who Feels It Knows It, Wanna Go Home and more, says not only is he excited about his musical future, but also about the future of reggae music.

"I have a long way to go, when I look at the major achievements of the reggae artistes before me; that is definitely something to aspire towards and that's what I'm focusing on right now. And apart from myself, there are a lot more promising young artistes, so I think it's a great future for reggae as long as we continue to work hard and put in the effort," he said.

An exciting album launch for The System will take place at Emancipation Park, St Andrew, on May 30 at 6 p.m.

D'Angel's free concert in Sav tomorrow

Following the absence of some artistes from her birthday party show staged in Savanna-la-Mar last month, dancehall artiste D'Angel had apologised to fans and promised a free make-up show.

Come tomorrow, that promise is set to become a reality.

The free concert is dubbed 'Giving back to the people' is set to take place at Davis Plaza, 82 Great Georges Street, Savanna-La-Mar (opposite Courts). The concert is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., and will feature the likes of Capleton, Charly Black, Potential Kidd, Hero, Stacious and of course D'Angel.

"As promised, I've kept my word and returning to Sav to do the concert for the people," D'Angel said.

However, she wants to apologise for Beenie Man who she says is away in Europe on tour. "But come out early, you don't want to miss it, it's going to be a show to remember," D'Angel said.

Sean Paul releases 2012 Olympic Anthem

International superstar Sean Paul is doing his part to keep the Jamaican spirit high as the London 2012 Olympic Games draws near. His recently released single Hold On, is an anthem for local and overseas athletes who will be heading to London with dreams of achieving gold.

The third single released from Sean Paul's Tomahawk Technique, Hold On is an upbeat and uplifting song that speaks to striving and achieving your dreams no matter what obstacles may stand in the way. The song's powerful message can be applied in all areas and levels of life and for a big stage like the Olympics rings true to the theme of accomplishing only the best.

"I felt compelled to do Hold On this year especially because of the upcoming Olympics and wanting to encourage our ambassadors to excel despite the challenges," Sean Paul explained.

Hold On is easily becoming a local anthem for all Jamaican athletes ready to bring more accolades home to Jamaica.

The Grammy-winning artiste continues to reap success with his fifth studio album, Tomahawk Technique which was released in France in January. The pop album debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Japan iTunes chart and has seen remarkable growth in Europe and the rest of the world. Other popular hits from the album include: Got 2 Luv U with American songstress Alexis Jordan, She Doesn't Mind and How Deep Is Your Love featuring superstar Kelly Rowland. Got 2 Luv U has sold over two million copies digitally and its strong performance in Europe has set the pace for the song making the top 10 in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania and Spain. Roll Wid Di Don also featured on the album was produced by the artiste on his Material Riddim and has held the No. 1 spot on the Hype TV charts in Jamaica for six weeks. Sean Paul is currently touring and constantly working on new material.
