Exotic Gold shares top weight with All Correct

ALL CORRECT - file

CHAMPION trainer Wayne DaCosta's Oaks-winning filly EXOTIC GOLD will have to share top weight 57.0 kilos with her stablemate, the gelding ALL CORRECT, in Saturday's $3.3m Lotto Classic for the Governor's Cup.

Caymanas Track Limited yesterday afternoon released a list of 22 entries for the 10-furlong event, headed by ALL CORRECT and EXOTIC GOLD at 57.0 kilos apiece.

EXOTIC GOLD, who won the 1000 Guineas, should have benefited from a two-kilo sex allowance but had her advantage nullified by the conditions of the race.

Explaining how the filly came to be sitting level at 57.0 kilos with the colt, assistant racing secretary Kingsley Gentles explained that EXOTIC GOLD should have carried 55.0 due to her sex allowance. Her stablemate, ALL CORRECT, who won the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes but lost the 2000 Guineas, was also initially spared top weight 57.0.

However, the conditions of the race require there must be a top weight, hence the scale had to be adjusted upwards by two kilos, pushing both DaCosta runners up to 57.0, and the other entries adjusted accordingly.

Both DaCosta runners are giving away loads of weight to their closest rivals in the scale - the trio of AVENTURA, FANCY PANTS and PRINCE ANDREW - who are in at 52.0 kilos each, setting up what should be an interesting clash of Jamaica Derby-bound three-year-olds.

UNCLE DONNY, winner of the 2000 Guineas, was kept out of the event by trainer Anthony Nunes, not wanting to allow rivals weight at 10 furlong too close to the derby.

However, a trio of classic-placed runners, Nunes' STAR FLYER, Gary Subratie's TRINITHETUTOR and DaCosta's ANTOINETTE, second, third and fourth, respectively, behind 99-1 upsetter SHE'S TRADITIONAL in the 1000 Guineas, are in at 50.0 kilos.

Interestingly, EXOTIC GOLD, carrying 57.0 kilos in the 1000 Guineas, had finished fifth behind the trio who she will now have to allow seven kilos, the equivalent of 16lb.

Dane Nelson is down to partner EXOTIC GOLD whereas Shane Ellis should do duties astride ALL CORRECT for champion trainer DaCosta.

Champion jockey Dick Cardenas should be aboard STAR FLYER (50.0kg) for Nunes.
