André Williams, STAR Writer
ODesia Oliver will remember May 13, 2012 for all the wrong reasons after her five-year-old daughter Mekalia Mannaseh was reportedly abducted from her home about midnight on Monday. Information reaching THE STAR is that the child was taken from her home in Warrick Mount, Great Pond, St Ann. Family members told THE STAR that Mannaseh went to bed around 7 p.m. on Sunday night and that there were several children at home at the time, under the watchful eyes of her grandmother and another adult. THE STAR understands that the child's mother Odesia Oliver was at work at the time. "I went by the house about 11 p.m. for something and that's the last time I saw 'pookie bear' laying on the bed. I kissed her, left and returned to work," said Oliver as she fought to hold back the pain in her voice. Oliver said she realised something was wrong when she returned home and went to the child's room to get her ready for school about 5 a.m., "I got home and was outside talking to some friends. My phone alarmed and I left their company as it was time to get my children ready for school. I went back to the room and woke up the big one then I went over to the bed where Mekalia, who attends St Ann's Bay Infant, was asleep and then mi notice she not on the bed," she said sadly. vanished Oliver said a complete search of the house was done but it seems her five-year-old child had vanished into thin air. The police were called and based on observation it was revealed that the child's abductors gained access to the house through the kitchen. When contacted, the Ohio Rios police confirmed the incident but directed THE STAR to the Constabulary Communications Network (CCN), for further comment. Yesterday, a seemingly upset Oliver lashed out at the police while accusing them of dragging their feet. "From dem come this morning we don't see dem back. We went through some bush, valley and such in search of her and dem nuh come back yet. Dem a say mi must come down to the station." However, just before closing the conversation Oliver said the police had arrived. Throughout yesterday, the disappearance of young Mekalia Mannaseh went viral on BlackBerry Messenger with many broadcasts being circulated among several individuals in an attempt to locate the child. |
