Low energy at Saturday's Club PAR

Unlike previous stagings in the series, Club PAR lacked energy when it was held at Club Overtime, Park Boulevard in New Kingston, on Saturday.

When THE STAR arrived at the event a little after midnight, a few persons were filing into the near-empty venue. DJ Narity played hip-hop songs like 50 Cent's Candy Shop, along with the Aidonia remix, and Destiny Child's Independent Woman. He followed with songs like Brick and Lace's Love Is Wicked, Sean Paul's Get Busy and Anthony B's Tease Har.

At 1 a.m. the venue was still scanty and there wasn't a lot of dancing, but ZJ Ice tried to get people moving with energetic selections. He played songs like Elephant Man's Dip Again, Beenie Man's Know How Fi Wine and Beyonce's Who Run The World. By the end of his set, there were a lot more patrons at the party than before.

Kingston All-Stars followed by saluting mothers with Sizzla's Thank You Mama. By now, it was 3 a.m. and very little had changed. Nonetheless, the song selection improved somewhat with recent songs like Cham's Wine and Drop It, followed by Konshens' Gyal A Bubble.

But although there was a bit more energy in the venue at that time, some patrons began to leave.
