New court date for teacher on assault charge |

A teacher who allegedly wounded a student she was trying to restrain is to return to court on July 4. The female teacher had her bail extended when she appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. Defence attorney Earl Hamilton told the court his client was just trying to correct a child that had been a source of disturbance at the school. It was also revealed that the Child Development Agency has started a probe in the matter. physical confrontation The allegations against the teacher is that on February 3, the accused was working when she saw the 11-year-old complainant in a physical confrontation with another student. The teacher allegedly held the boy and was taking him to the principal's office. While trying to restrain the complainant, the child allegedly suffered bruises on the upper body. After the matter was related to a relative of the complainant, a report was made to the police. An investigation was launched which resulted in the teacher being charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. |
