There were even further delays in the robbery case involving the bag juice vendor and a minor who are accused of robbing a student in Mona St Andrew, recently.
Twenty-two-year-old Christopher Bailey from August Town, and his 15-year-old accomplice from Kingston are charged with robbery with aggravation. Bailey, who has pleaded not guilty, was again remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. However, his co-accused was again not brought to court. The matter is to be mentioned on May 16, and Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey has ordered that the minor would be brought to court on a writ. It is alleged that on April 3, both accused armed with hockey sticks held up a complainant, who is a 14-year-old student of a Corporate Area boys school, and robbed him of a cellphone, valued at $15,000, and $500 in the Mona area. It is reported that the men then fled and Bailey and his accomplice were chased on to the nearby University of the West Indies, Mona campus, by angry residents, where they were arrested and held. The student later turned up at the police station and made a report. The police told the court that there has been a slew of crimes in which hockey sticks are the weapons of choice. On a previous court date, the police also informed the court that the 15-year-old is involved in another case where it is alleged that he stole a gun from a police station. The gun was, however, recovered by the police. |
