JNBS cops Wellness & Lifestyle Awards
Jamaica National Building Society is the Environmental Health Foundation of Jamaica (EHFJ) 'Industry & Service Provider' winner of its 2012 Wellness & Lifestyle Awards.

The Environmental Health Foundation is a private, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the quality of people's lives through social outreach projects and programmes. Its Annual Wellness & Lifestyle Awards were launched in 2005 to recognise awardees who have made a significant impact on the development of wellness in the Jamaican society.

General manager of the JN Group, Earl Jarrett, and executive, group human resource development department, Maximilian Campbell, accepted the award on behalf of the JN Group on the lawns of Eden Gardens in St. Andrew, on Tuesday, April 24.

The Industry & Service Provider award is given in recognition of an organisation's community outreach programmes as well as their involvement with islandwide initiatives in the areas of health and wellness.

Campbell, who spearheads the JN Group wellness programme, pointed out that it was aimed at improving the balance in health and lifestyle choices and at laying the foundation for a healthier JN Group workforce.

"The JN Group intensified its wellness thrust in 2011, to target the physical, mental, financial and spiritual wellness of our employees," he stated. "As a further demonstration of our commitment to achieving and maintaining a healthy workforce, we have included a staff wellness campaign among our 2012-15 strategic objectives."

Commending the JNBS on its award, Dr. Henry Lowe, executive chairman of the EHFJ, said he was pleased to recognise the society for its commitment and dedication to promoting wellness and healthy lifestyles in Jamaica.

"Through the implementation of a comprehensive and robust wellness programme, the company succeeds in improving health and fitness, financial wellness; employee morale; productivity in the workplace, while reducing health costs borne by both employees and the company," he noted. "Jamaica National Building Society remains committed to realising its vision of impacting lifestyle and behaviour change, which will lay the foundation for a healthier JN Group workforce."

Other 2012 Wellness & Lifestyle Awards recipients were Sonita Morin Abrahams, executive director of RISE Life Management, who won in the Individual category; Professor Peter Figueroa who won the 'Wellness & Lifestyle Award' in the 'Regional/International' category on and the Diabetes Association of Jamaica, which succeeded in the 'Lifestyle Education and Development' category.
