INDECOM probes Bartons district killings |

A probe has been launched by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of two civilians in St Catherine on Saturday.
THE STAR understands that one of the men has been identified as Sadeek Tollouch of Guinep Ridge, Bartons district. The other is yet to be identified. It is reported that police personnel acting on information went on an operation near Guinep Ridge, Bartons district, in the parish. The police were reportedly in the area in search of wanted men, illegal firearms, ammunition and stolen items. It is reported that the cops surrounded a yard which has three houses, and three men ran from one of the houses and two ran from another with guns in their hands. They allegedly opened gunfire on the police who returned the fire. When the shooting subsided, it is reported that two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds with guns. They were both rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Two men, both of Bartons, St Catherine addresses, were also arrested in relation to the incident. Residents of the area told INDECOM investigators that the unidentified man was not from the district and was only known to them as 'Chiney'.
