Rasbert Turner, Star Writer
A St Catherine musician who is accused of raping a member of his family was granted bail of $200,000 in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday. The 25-year-old accused pleaded not guilty. It is being alleged that in late March, the 16-year-old complainant, who is the accused stepsister, was at home when he reportedly held her down and raped her. A subsequent report was made to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse. Following an investigation, he was charged with rape. In court his attorney, Courtney Maxwell, made a successful bail application saying his client is not a flight risk and he has a clean record. Bail was granted on condition that he keeps away from the complainant and returns to court on May 22. |
