The case involving 62-year-old businessman Dennis Daley, who has been charged with several counts of fraud, was again set for another mention date when the matter returned to court on Friday. Daley, of a Stony Hill, St Andrew address, was further remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. He has been charged with four counts of fraudulently inducing persons to invest money, two counts of operating as a securities dealer without a licence, and engaging in the business of trading without a licence. Daley is to return to court on May 11, when the matter will be mentioned, as the file is incomplete. It is alleged that between July 2009 and February 2010, Daley, who operates an investment company by the name of Venture Trader International on Oxford Road in Kingston, told the complainant that his company is legitimate. It is alleged that Daley told the complainant that he could offer her an interest rate of eight per cent on Jamaican currency and seven per cent on the United States currency. However, it is reported that the complainant, who then invested J$1.7 million and US$10,000 with the company, received no such returns. Daley was subsequently arrested and charged after the matter was reported to the police.
