The Post and Telecommunications Department has sent some good news to residents of Portmore.

In a release on Thursday, the department said several post offices would remain open past their regular closing time. "The Greater Portmore, Waterford, and Bridgeport post offices ... will be open for an additional four hours on Saturday (today)," the release said..

The release continued that the extended opening would only be for today and would see these locations closing at 5 p.m. instead of their usual 1 p.m.

Public Relations Officer for the Post and Telecommunications Department, Tandy Lewis, said the department decided to extend the opening hours to help customers with their bill payments.

She said, "We are extending our hours as part of facilitating customers as some Paymaster offices in the areas will be closed on Saturday."

Extended opening hours will not apply to Corporate Area post offices (Cross Roads, Liguanea, and Constant Spring) open on a Saturday. These offices will close at their usual time of 1 p.m., the release said.
